Students learn about Heineken's IT Strategy

8/12/2011

The tour of the Zoeterwoude Heineken brewery kicked off with a reception and presentation of the outsourcing stategy Heiniken takes in in supporting business processes.

Following the Company and IT Intro, we hopped onto the double-decker Heineken bus and toured the Brewery. The Zoeterwoude location is responsible for brewing and bottling all imported and nationally sold Heineken beers. It also brews several Amstel products, but many of Heineken's brands are brewed at their original locations around the world. Heineken believes that beer is best enjoyed at the local level and the majority of its' brands are specific to a region.

There were no photos allowed on the tour, sadly, but lets just say there were some very sophisticated machines doing a lot of work! Suprisingly, there were very few people present at the Brewery or bottling center, as Heineken is moving towards absolute automation fo the brewing of its beer.

Finally, we went back to the welcome center to enjoy a 'Product Confrontation'. They even let us tap our own!

Thanks so much to Rory and the folks at Heineken who made our visit so interesting and enjoyable. We hope to see you again next year!
